Paul Pogba: Man Utd star reveals who he wants to COPY
PAUL POGBA has responded when asked which player he wants to emulate.
Paul Pogba is a very talented player admits Teddy Sheringham
Manchester United star Pogba has often been likened to former Juventus team-mate Andrea Pirlo.
Pogba has started to show the form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that led to United paying Juve £89million to bring him back to Old Trafford in 2016.
He played a wonderful through ball to Marcus Rashford as Manchester United beat Tottenham 1-0 last weekend.
It was reminiscent of the passes current United coach Michael Carrick and Red Devils legend Paul Scholes used to play.
Pogba has the build of Manchester City hero Yaya Toure, possessing the power like the Ivorian had.
But World Cup winner Paul Pogba insists he wants to be his own star, with attributes from other legendary players part of his game.
“To be honest, I love football,” Pogba said on Football Focus.
“I love watching players Yaya Toure, Iniesta, Xavi, Paul Scholes, Carrick, I love to look at midfielders to make myself Paul Pogba with all the quality of the other ones.”
Former Premier League striker Robbie Keane believes Pogba has one problem stopping him playing like Pirlo.
“It’s clear to see that [he’s enjoying his football],” Keane said after United beat Tottenham last week.
“He’s better further forward. We’ve been saying that for a long time.
“I don’t think he is disciplined enough to play as a holding midfielder.
“He’s not a Pirlo. He’s not going to sit there, spread it and start the play.
“He likes to have the ball, playing in the box.
“When he’s getting at people, getting in people’s faces, when he has time to spread it higher up the pitch - not deeper - (he excels).
“We’ve seen it in his last few games up the pitch.”
