Chelsea transfer news: Paredes arrival could see Kante or Jorginho leave - expert
CHELSEA could lose N’Golo Kante or Jorginho if Maurizio Sarri signs Leandro Paredes.
That’s the view of football finance expert Kieran Maguire.
Chelsea boss Sarri wants Zenit midfielder Paredes to replace Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge.
Reports this week claimed the Blues have agreed terms with the Argentina international and a deal is close.
Paredes, 24, could cost Chelsea around £27m this month.
Their biggest issue is Kante and Jorginho
However, Maguire claims Paredes’ arrival could see Kante or Jorginho leave Stamford Bridge.
Maguire told the Daily Star: “Fabregas became a squad player rather than a first choice.
“So I think he [Paredes] could shake things up.
“Their biggest issue is Kante and Jorginho.
Chelsea target Paredes shows off stunning skills for Zenit
“Trying to play those two in the same team is like playing [Frank] Lampard and [Steven] Gerrard in the same team.
“It doesn’t quite work.
“So if he does come in, Sarri may have to let one of the others go.”
Sarri has deployed Kante in a more attacking role following the arrival of Jorginho in the summer.
The Italian managed Jorginho at Napoli and he’s Sarri’s No 1 choice to sit in front of the back four.
Chelsea are back in action on Saturday evening against Arsenal in the Premier League.
A win for the Blues could send Sarri’s men up to third ahead of Tottenham.
