Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has copied Sir Alex Ferguson by doing this
MANCHESTER UNITED manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed success so for in his short spell at the club because he’s taken after Sir Alex Ferguson.
That is the view of former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won his first five games in charge of United, scoring 16 goals in the process.
And former team-mate Howard has praised the Norwegian for his Fergie-like leadership.
"He is one of the good guys, he understands the soul of the club,” he said.
“He is a piece of that fabric and so when he speaks to those players he is going to listen.
“There is nothing he hasn't done at Manchester United.
"I've sat back and enjoyed watching him manage the team.
“He does what Sir Alex Ferguson did - when I was there playing with him - and he would pick the best players and say go, play forward, play fast and go right up against them.”
United’s style of play has vastly changed since former boss Jose Mourinho’s axing in December.
They scored five goals in the Premier League for the first time since Ferguson’s last game in 20103, against Cardiff - Solskjaer’s first game in charge.
And they’ve looked a more fluid attacking prospect on the pitch - albeit against lesser opposition.
"That's what Ole talks about taking the shackles off, enjoying your football and playing the Manchester United way,” the former United States international added.
“And we all know what playing the Manchester United way is.
“That's what he has done he has given them freedom.
"Over the last few seasons they have kind of had those shackles on, they've not really played that free-flowing football and clearly that's back."
United take on Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday evening, in Solskjaer’s first big test in charge of the Red Devils.
