Chelsea transfer news: Gonzalo Higuain alternative identified as Blues plot raid on rival
CHELSEA have lined up West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic as a potential alternative to Gonzalo Higuain as Maurizio Sarri seeks out a new striker, reports claim.
Chelsea have now been credited with an interest in West Ham’s Arnautovic by online outlet Bleacher Report.
The Austrian has impressed in a central role under Manuel Pellegrini so far this season, netting seven times.
And it is believed his link-up play would dovetail nicely with Chelsea’s free-flowing approach under Sarri.
With Arnautovic now back from injury, Chelsea are said to be planning to reach out to West Ham to make their keenness on signing him known.

Chelsea apparently expect their London rivals to do everything in their power to prevent a deal from happening.
But there is a hope that Arnautovic will have his head turned by the chance to swap the London Stadium for Stamford Bridge.
Arnautovic is integral to Pellegrini’s system at West Ham and the Chilean is eager to keep hold of him.
Although the same cannot be said of Andy Carroll, who has now entered the final six months of his contract.
