And Phelan has 'liked' an interesting post from an ex-Red Devil on the social networking site hinting that big change could be round the corner.
After Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday, former striker Brian McClair tweeted: "He's not the only one who should depart!!!"
That was liked 7,500 times - with one of them coming from Phelan. It is unclear to who McClair is referring to.
Hours after the tweet, Solskjaer was appointed as caretaker boss with Phelan arriving as his right-hand man.
Solskjaer is the first manager in Manchester United history to be on social media while Phelan, interestingly, has continued to use the site since his arrival.
He liked a tweet from a United fans' account welcoming him back as well as one from ex-Red Mikael Silvestre.
United got off to the dream start under Solskjaer and Phelan as they crushed Cardiff 5-1 on Saturday.
Man Utd: One ‘had to go’ out of Pogba and Mourinho says Wise
While the Norwegian is only in as a caretaker, he believes he will have a direct influence in transfer business come January.
Solskjaer said: "I will have an input, of course. The job now is to get to know the players, observe them and see the qualities we've got.
"I've seen more or less every game from Norway, when I've had time from the other job. But to get to know the players and think 'what can I improve them on' - that's my job.
"The club have got their recruitment and scouting, so I'm sure they've got their targets.
“But I've not sat down and talked about that, because my job is to get these players enjoying football."
