The Red Devils want to make an interim appointment until the end of the season, at which time they will bring in a long-term manager.
And it appears as though United fans are keen to get Pochettino through the drops of Old Trafford.
Express Sport’s analysis using social listening tool Pulsar highlights how fans are siding with the Argentine.
Data collected on social media since May 2018 shows that Manchester United supporters are increasingly pushing for Pochettino to be the new boss.
Back in May it was Conte who was wanted at Old Trafford, with the Italian all set to be sacked by Chelsea.
Pochettino was also on the radar of Red Devils fans seven months ago, while Blanc and Zidane were less so.
That all changed in June when Zidane quit Real Madrid, sparking reports that Manchester United could axe Mourinho and immediately replace him with the Frenchman.
By August, Mourinho was fuming about United’s dire summer transfer efforts and 88.8 per cent of fans on social media wanted Zidane to replace him.
That reached a staggering 95.9 per cent in September when claims in Spain emerged suggesting contact between Zidane and the club had been made.
Yet the longer the season has rumbled on, the more United fans have become interested again in Pochettino.
Pulsar has seen a growth of supporters backing a swoop for the Tottenham boss, who is now the favourite among fans to get the job.
As of December 18, Pochettino carries almost half of the social chatter among supporters discussing the vacant United post.
Pochettino himself was asked about the rumours today, where he said: “It’s not my business what happened today and only I want to send my best wishes to Jose.
“There are a lot of rumours about my position as manager at Tottenham.
“I cannot answer this type of question.
“The business you know very well, a lot of rumours happen.
“I’m so focused in trying to deliver my best in this football club.”
