Man United fan SLAMS Jose Mourinho for Pogba treatment
Manchester United have announced manager Jose Mourinho has ended his two-and-a-half year spell at the club. The 55-year-old will leave his position with immediate effect. Michael Carrick will take charge of training today, before an interim boss is appointed. That move is expected to happen before the end of the week.
"Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect," a club statement said.
"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future.
"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."
United are sixth in the league table, 19 points adrift of bitter rivals Liverpool following United's 3-1 Premier League defeat at Anfield at the weekend.
Mourinho took charge at United, succeeding Louis van Gaal, in the summer of 2016 and they won the Europa League and League Cup in their first season under the Portuguese.
The Red Devils then finished second in the Premier League last term, before making a troubled start to this season, winning only seven of 17 league games and being knocked out of the League Cup at home by Championship club Derby.

It seems Zinadane Zidane is the early favourite with Ladbrokes to be Man United's next permanent manager, heading the betting at 11/10.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is a 4/1 shot ahead of Antonio Conte (6/1) and Laurent Blanc (10/1) respectively.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "It's hardly a surprise to see Jose sent packing and the early signs point towards an imminent stint in the United dugout for Zidane."
While Coral have Michael Carrick as the favourite, offerings odds of 5/4.
