Transfer news LIVE updates: £90m Man Utd and Chelsea battle, Dembele to Arsenal? Liverpool
TRANSFER NEWS - All the latest gossip, rumours and updates from Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League as the January window approaches.
Man Utd and Chelsea told to pay £90m
Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been told they will need to pay around £90million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Koulibaly has stood out in the past few seasons as one of Serie A’s best.
Chelsea could also rival the Red Devils for the impressive Napoli centre-back though.
The Sunday Times say both clubs have been told by officials at the Serie A club they will only consider bids of around £90m for the player.
On Koulibaly Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis recently said: “I erected a wall to keep him here with me.”
Lionel Messi praises Ousmane Dembele
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has praised Ousmane Dembele and claims the club ‘need’ him.
The 21-year-old made a move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017 but has failed to reach the level expected of him.
Dembele has been linked with big-money moves to both Arsenal and Liverpool.
But after netting in the 4-0 win against Espanyol, Messi praised Dembele and underlined his importance to the Catalan club.
“We are happy for Dembele,” the Argentine said.
“Today he has scored again and is animated and will do very well. We need Dembele.”
Maurizio Sarri wants Denis Suarez
Chelsea are looking to sign Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in January.
Italian website Calciomercato claim Maurizio Sarri has added the 24-year-old to his transfer shortlist.
But Suarez, who has played just eight minutes of LaLiga action this season, is still expected to command a fee in the region of £36million.
It’s reported that Barcelona would allow Suarez to leave on a six-month loan deal and that could see Cesc Fabregas leave Stamford Bridge.
The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Sarri and AC Milan are interested in signing the veteran playmaker.
Victor Moses to Crystal Palace
Chelsea are looking to sell Victor Moses.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim the Blues want £12million for their versatile wing-back.
Clubs including Crystal Palace and Fulham are interested in the 27-year-old, who has made just six appearances in all competitions this season.
Paul Pogba to Juventus
Juventus are hopeful of signing Paul Pogba when the January transfer window opens in 22 days!
Pogba was left on the bench during Saturday’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Fulham, and Jose Mourinho appeared to criticises the Frenchman’s attitude.
"He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing," Mourinho said when asked what he needed to do to get back in the side.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus are monitoring the situation and believe a ‘divorce in January’ would be the best option for all parties involved.
Pogba, 25, has over two years remaining on his Old Trafford contract and appears unlikely to sign an extension - putting the Red Devils at risk of losing their £89million signing on the cheap.
Virgil van Dijk to Real Madrid or Barcelona?
Virgil van Dijk is being tipped to fulfil his boyhood dream and make Barcelona his next move in football.
The £75million Liverpool star defender revealed to team-mates at Groningen seven years ago that the Nou Camp would be his “eventual goal”.
And Kris Commons, who played with Van Dijk, 27, in his two seasons at Celtic, is in no doubt that he will move finally to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
He said: “You could see how good he was straight away. Virgil took us to another level. He had everything.
“I rate him alongside Sergio Ramos. Liverpool are a massive club but in terms of getting players, Madrid and Barca are above them.
“I can’t see why Real, Barca or PSG wouldn’t come in for him.”
