Man Utd ‘signed Alexis Sanchez’s brother' - Emmanuel Petit mocks former Arsenal man
FORMER Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has taken aim at Alexis Sanchez, claiming the Chilean has been anonymous since joining Manchester United.
Sanchez swapped the Emirates for Old Trafford in January in a deal which saw Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the opposite direction.
The former Barcelona man has yet to hit the heights he reached during his time with the Gunners, or justify the £390,000 he’s being paid weekly.
Sanchez has only scored four goals in 30 appearances for the Red Devils and has looked devoid of confidence in recent matches.
Pettit hasn’t been impressed by what he’s seen of the forward in a United shirt and believes his displays for Jose Mourinho’s side have been unacceptable.
"He wanted to leave Arsenal because he was chasing the salary United could offer,” Petit told Goal.
“Now he receives so much money and in nine months what has he done?
“Nothing. I have not seen him. I think they signed his brother.
"I understand that players believe they deserve certain financial rewards when they reach a certain level, but what we have seen from Sanchez at United has not been acceptable."

Petit’s old Arsenal team-mate Nigel Winterburn also hasn’t been wowed by Sanchez in recent months and believes the 29-year-old isn’t suited for the style of football Mourinho likes to play.
“I didn’t think Alexis Sanchez's style of play would suit United, he’s a free spirit and you have to know how to deal with him,” he said.
"He’s got undoubted ability, but I wasn’t quite sure the way he plays would fit in to the Mourinho way.
“I look back at Sanchez for Arsenal, and there’s something not quite right with him at United, and it will be interesting to see how the situation will develop.
“It will be interesting if he stays and plays a major part for the club or whether he looks for a new challenge.
“But he’s not hit the level of performance from his time at Arsenal.”
Sanchez is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep out of action until mid-January.
