He very nearly left the club in the summer and has been linked with a move away in January but Jurgen Klopp gave him the chance to be the hero which he grasped with both hands.
“It’s a special moment, I’m enjoying the moment,” Origi told Sky Sports after the game.
“It’s a special moment for the club and the city. I’m very happy for it.”
Origi then explained why he followed the ball in considering it seemed a lost cause.

“It was just instinct, with the first chance I had I knew there was going to be some balls like this,” he added.
“I just tried to be sharp and in the end Virgil gave a nice end assist.
“I think I just believe in myself, it wasn’t easy but in football it always makes you stronger [not playing] to enjoy the game.
“Whenever I come in I just try to help the team and I am happy that I could do it in this way today.”
