Man Utd news: Did you see what Luke Shaw did against Young Boys – United fans will love it
LUKE SHAW has further endeared himself to Manchester United supporters after brilliantly dealing with a time-wasting opponent during the Red Devils' win over Young Boys.
Manchester United booked their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League with an uninspiring 1-0 victory over Young Boys at Old Trafford.
The victory, couple with Valencia’s defeat to Juventus, has secured the Red Devils a top two finish in Group H and a place in the next round.
Luke Shaw was one of the better performers during a dreary display from Jose Mourinho’s men, with victory only secured after a controversial late Marouane Fellaini strike.
Left-back Shaw has been a huge positive in a poor season for United so far, with the 23-year-old resurrecting his Old Trafford career and reclaiming a spot in the starting XI.
The former Southampton man is a popular member of the United squad and has further established himself as a fan favourite after roughly dealing with a time-wasting Young Boys player.
Visiting striker Jean-Pierre Nsame was substituted with the scores level at 0-0 and just eight minutes of the match remaining.
Moumi Nicolas Ngamaleu was set to replace the Cameroon frontman, but Nsame took his time to leave the field as his team played for the draw.
Shaw decided to help the 25-year-old along and was pictured pushing him in the back before bodily throwing his opponent towards the touchline.
Shaw’s sense of urgency with his side chasing the game has struck a chord among United supporters, with many bemoaning the fact that not as much spirit was shown by the rest of the team.
Shaw’s actions went unpunished by the officials and his intent paid off when Fellaini popped up in injury time to send United through.
Next up for Mourinho’s men is a trip to Southampton before Arsenal and Fulham visit Old Trafford.
The Red Devils then complete their Champions League group fixtures away at Valencia, knowing a win at the Mestalla could still see them top the table.
