Harry Redknapp on Alex Ferguson: We used to bet on the races
The former West Ham, Portsmouth, Tottenham and QPR manager is currently the bookie's favourites to win I’m A Celebrity 2018. The ITV series features a number of high-profile names in the jungles of New South Wales, Australia, taking part in Bushtucker trials to win meals for camps. However, it is a far-cry from the glamorous lifestyle Redknapp is used to, having spent more than 20 years managing in the Premier League.
The 71-year-old made numerous headlines during that time for his famous car window interviews, fiery outbursts and hilarious stories.
His tale about the extent of his relationship with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is no different.
“I got on great with [Sir] Alex,” he told the Oxford Union.
“He always had a nice glass of wine for you after the match and we would talk football.
“He loved racing – we would be in his office at 2.45 watching the race before a 3pm kickoff.

“Everyone thinks the managers are in there [the changing rooms] doing the set pieces and warm-ups.
“But me and Fergie would be betting on the 2.45.”
Redknapp, who guided Portsmouth to FA Cup success in 2008, revealed a hilarious exchange they would have.
He added: “I’d say ‘Alex the players are going out,’ before he would respond ‘don’t worry about that'.
“It was alright for him though, he had a fantastic team.
