Man Utd news: DON’T blame Jose Mourinho for Alexis Sanchez problems - Ray Parlour
MANCHESTER UNITED fans cannot blame Jose Mourinho for Alexis Sanchez’s drop in form and should expect the goals to return to the Chilean star.
Mourinho not to blame for Sanchez poor form says Ray Parlour
That is according to former Arsenal and England midfielder Ray Parlour.
Sanchez is yet to score for Manchester United in his five appearances this season.
The Chile international has just two Premier League goals in 17 games since joining from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Some fans and pundits believe it is time Mourinho benched Sanchez and gave his spot to someone else.
There is no doubting his ability, he’s unbelievable
But Parlour claims there is still a player in there waiting to come out and can see the 30-year-old forging a good partnership with Romelu Lukaku in time.
“There is no doubting his ability, he’s unbelievable,” Parlour said of Sanchez on talkSPORT.
“I watched him so many times when he played for Arsenal.
“He can turn a game on his own, that’s how good he is, but it’s how you get the best out of him.
“I’m not blaming Jose, but when you look at it, Sanchez and Lukaku can be an unbelievable partnership on paper, but it’s just about getting them performing together.
“I’m sure Man United fans were very excited about signing Sanchez, but it just hasn’t worked out for him, yet.
“There’s still time. He needs to get a little bit of confidence back to his game, and then I’m sure he’ll end up being a great signing for Manchester United.
“[The goal drought] is a bit worrying. A couple of efforts over the weekend weren’t good enough for a player of Sanchez’s quality.
Mourinho should put Sanchez on the bench says Marcotti
“But he’s a player who will know he’s going through a bad time and he will keep working hard on the training field.
“Sooner or later things will turn around for him.”
Alexis Sanchez could be rested for tomorrow's Carabao Cup clash against Derby at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho's side then face West Ham in the Premier League this Saturday.
