Premier League title odds: Liverpool second-favourites after Leicester win, Man Utd 50/1
LIVERPOOL have emerged as second-favourites to win the Premier League as they continued their perfect start to the season with victory over Leicester.
Liverpool are among the favourites to secure the Premier League title after Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their perfect start to the season against Leicester.
Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a 2-1 win over the Foxes, leaving them temporarily top of the table before the rest of the weekend’s matches.
Liverpool have now won all four of their games so far during the 2018/19 campaign, with Klopp’s concceeding just a single goal.
The Reds have never won a Premier League title, coming closest in 2008/09 and 2013/14 but ultimately falling short on both occasions.
According to bookmakers Betfair, Liverpool are 5/2 to win the title behind reigning champions Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s men are odds-on to retain their crown – a feat which hasn’t been achieved since Manchester United won three consecutive titles in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The Red Devils are highly unlikely to add to their tally this season with the club currently in turmoil under Jose Mourinho.
United have suffered back-to-back losses against Brighton and Tottenham, leaving them 13th in the table ahead of a trip to Burnley.
Defeat against the Clarets will see the pressure mount even further on manager Jose Mourinho, with the Daily Mail claiming the Portuguese boss is facing the axe.
United are currently priced at 50/1 to win the league, although 2016/17 champions Leicester City were 5000/1 outsiders before their title-winning season.
Wolves are only 500/1 in their first season back in the top division while optimistic punters may be tempted by Cardiff and Huddersfield’s 2500/1 odds.
