Arsenal news: Shock stat proves Cech deserves No 1 ahead of Leno – Most saves this season
PETR CECH is undoubtedly proving his worth to Arsenal with the veteran goalkeeper currently top of the charts for saves in the Premier League so far this season.
The Gunners are still getting used to life under their new manager, with their defence in particular struggling to adapt following the departure of Arsene Wenger.
Luckily, Arsenal have an in-form goalkeeper between the sticks with Petr Cech topping the charts for most saves so far this Premier League campaign.
The veteran stopper has come in for plenty of criticism over the past few years, with many expecting the 36-year-old to make way for summer signing Bernd Leno.
However, Emery kept faith in the former Czech international and has been rewarded with a league-high number of saves.
While Cech has endured some uncomfortable moments – including almost scoring a comical own-goal against City – the Gunners goalkeeper has in fact kept out 18 of 24 shots on his goal.
That tally is two clear of his nearest rivals, showing how much worse off Arsenal could have been without the experienced stopper’s interventions.

Meanwhile, Ederson has only made four saves from his three matches this season, tied with Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Martin Dubravka has also pulled off very few stops, although Newcastle have rarely let the opposition have a clear sight of goal.
As expected, the promoted goalkeepers have all been very busy with Rui Patricio and Neil Etheridge making nine saves apiece.
Two of Etheridge’s stops have come from the penalty spot, while Fulham custodian Fabri is making a good impression at Craven Cottage with his safe hands.
