Mourinho arrives for Man Utd training with mystery guest as stars look glum at Carrington
JOSE MOURINHO was joined by a mystery guest as he arrived for Manchester United training ahead of the Red Devils’ clash with Brighton on Sunday (4pm).
Manchester United stars have been hard at work on the training pitch as they gear up to take on Brighton this weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s side travel to the south coast looking to build on their 2-1 victory over Leicester in the opening match of the Premier League season.
However, the United squad looked less than impressed as they arrived at Carrington this morning with the likes of Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez struggling to raise a smile.
Mourinho added some intrigue to the session by pulling up with a mystery guest in the back of his chauffeured Jaguar.
Photographers were unable to identify the passenger, although the United boss was snapped deep in conversation as he was driven into the training complex.
French winger Martial, who irked his manager by failing to immediately return to pre-season following the birth of his child, was one of the players looking particularly glum as he arrived for training.
The 22-year-old was an unused substitute against Leicester last week and appears to have some way to go before getting back in Mourinho’s good books.
However, Sanchez also seemed unenthusiastic about getting out on the training pitch as he steered his Range Rover past the cameras.
Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero were both spotted arriving in their luxury cars this morning as the pair continue their recoveries from injury.
The Argentinian was behind the wheel of an imposing Rolls Royce while Romero flashed a wave towards the photographers.
Scott McTominay was pictured trying to keep a low profile as Fred, Marouane Fellaini, Matteo Darmian and Lee Grant were also caught on camera.
Summer signing Fred, who impressed on his Premier League debut against the Foxes last week, was seen sporting a pair of sunglasses as he waved to the waiting fans.
The Red Devils are expected to be without six senior players for their clash against Brighton, with Antonio Valencia, Diogo Dalot, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera joining Rojo and Romero on the sidelines.
Following their meeting with the Seagulls, United will take on Tottenham before embarking on an inviting run of fixtures which includes trips to Burnley, Watford and West Ham.
Mourinho’s men will be targeting maximum points in order to keep pace with neighbours and defending champions Manchester City, who face the six most recently promoted sides in their next six matches.
Guardiola’s side finished 19 points clear at the top of the Premier League last season, although United came from two goals down to beat them at the Etihad in April.
