Luke Littler suffered a mortifying moment in front of Lando Norris – scoring just a single one in a darts match between the pair. Littler partnered with the McLaren star on British Grand Prix weekend, which saw Norris record a third-place finish.

Before the race itself, the pair took part in a friendly – but competitive – darts match in the Silverstone paddock. Littler has taken the darts world by storm over the last six months, but his talent deserted him somewhat in front of Norris.

Starting on 501 compared to the F1 driver's target of 101, the 17-year-old made some uncharacteristic errors as he attempted to get his target down. Norris landed some good shots and only needed 42 to win at one stage, whereas Littler had to take out 228 to win, which is when disaster struck.

Not only did two of Littler's darts come back out of the board, the one arrow that did land went straight into the one, which he jokingly celebrated by pointing one finger up at the sky. F1 commentator David Croft immediately asked Littler: "Luke, have you ever scored one before, ever?"

The young darts star was looking rather sheepish as he replied: "No." Croft then joked: "This is a first, ladies and gentlemen, we've dragged Luke Littler to the level we can all play at."

Littler eventually won the game before Norris took the darts superstar on a hot lap around Silverstone. That went slightly better than the McLaren driver's race on Sunday, which ended with disappointed as he finished behind Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Norris and Hamilton enjoyed a ding-dong battle back and forth and were forced to change tyres on multiple occasions due to the weather. Hamilton managed to pull clear of his younger opponent after a poor McLaren strategy call saw Norris fall into the clutches of Verstappen, who chased Hamilton home.

Norris, who is second in the drivers' championship, admitted afterwards he was unhappy at how the race had ended and blamed his own decision-making for the disappointing result. He said: "I am fed up of saying, 'I should have done better', and 'I could have done this' or 'I should have done that'. I don't care. If it takes time, I don't want it to take time. We should be winning now and I should be making better decisions than the ones I am taking."

"I am not being hard on myself. Should we have won? Yes. Did we win? No. I lost more points to Max and I cannot be happy with that. We threw it away in the final stop."

Norris returns to section in the Hungary Grand Prix on July 21, while Littler is back in more familiar territory at the World Matchplay this weekend. His debut in the tournament kicks off with a colossal clash against Michael van Gerwen on Monday nigh.
