Groves beat Fedor Chudinov to claim his first world title at the fourth time of asking after two defeats to Carl Froch and one to Badou Jack.
After the Jack loss, Groves teamed up with trainer Shane McGuigan and has been unbeaten ever since.
Cox is also unbeaten in his professional career with a record of 24-0 and fought on the undercard when Groves beat Chudinov.
The two will now face off in the quarterfinal of the World Boxing Super Series and a fight against Chris Eubank Jr awaits the winner.
