Dmitry Bivol’s ex-wife reacts to his first loss after accusing him of domestic violence

Dmitry Bivol suffered a controversial defeat at the hands of Artur Beterbiev in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night as the duo were separated on points by two of the three judges. And Bivol’s ex-wife Ekaterina has taken delight at the evening’s events as she put the result down to “karma”.

Bivol and his former partner were married for over 10 years after falling for each other as youngsters and tying the knot in October 2013. 

But they divorced last year, with Ekaterina accusing Bivol of allegedly controlling behaviour and emotional abuse during their marriage. Bivol and his camp have yet to respond to the allegations made last year.

On Saturday night, Beterbiev took the honour of becoming the first undisputed light-heavyweight champion of the four-belt era after dispatching Bivol in the Middle East.

And following the showdown, Ekaterina allegedly said in a video posted to social media: “Karma caught up with this a**h***. Artur, I'm happy for you. Now, my work is in court.”

She allegedly added: “F***, honestly, that’s what you deserve. You got scared. Karma reached Bivol. Go f*** yourself. No, honestly, go f*** yourself. I was right.”

Ekaterina accused Bivol of domestic abuse last year as she wrote on social media: “And this is how this ended... TOLD MY FATHER THAT I HIT MYSELF!!!! YOU ARE ALL scum!! DADDY PREVENTED ME [from going] to the police... May 3, 2023. The children saw everything!

“And this is me, an unhappy psychopath, after your mom's playing, I lost 8kg in 2 weeks. Did you [feel] sorry for me, the mother of your children and grandchildren?”

Ahead of Saturday’s fight, Ekaterina attempted to help Beterbiev in his efforts to win by providing him with inside information.

“I want to tell you everything I know. He has a stress fracture of a vertebra in his back, all his hands have been operated on and not just once, one elbow for sure, very sore knees, his left ear is constantly swelling,” she wrote on social media.

“It has been broken many times, and fluid has accumulated in his eye many times, sometimes he can't see well. But the main thing is that he is a coward! We need your victory, Artur.”

The result of the contest proved to be contentious, with boxing promoters Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn sharing their outrage after Bivol was deemed to have come out on top in just four of the 12 rounds.

“I gave it to Bivol by a couple of rounds,” Warren told DAZN. “That score of 8-4 is beyond ridiculous. Everyone around that ring thought Bivol had won it by at least two rounds. There should be a rematch because it was such a quality fight. It's terrible when you get a fight like that and it ends in controversy.”

And Hearn explained: “How could you not just talk about what just happened in the ring? How can you give Bivol four rounds in the whole fight? It's disgusting. Beterbiev's corner told him that he needed a knockout. I'm disgusted. Bivol boxed beautifully in there tonight.”
