Liam Cameron has voiced his suspicion that Ben Whittaker sought an escape from their bout after sustaining an injury which led to the match's premature conclusion.

The pair brought the fight to an unexpected halt when they both tumbled out of the ring at the climax of the fifth round, resulting in Whittaker being grounded and Cameron retreated to his corner for the inter-round break.

As the sixth round beckoned, an incapacitated Whittaker found himself unable to stand, prompting attention from his squad and on-site medics. While Cameron was under the impression he had clinched the win, the outcome was left to the judges due to an 'accidental injury' ruling.

The result was a split-decision technical draw with judges tallying scores of 58-57, 57-58, and 58-58, a decision that saw Whittaker's previously untarnished record change to 8-0-1 as he was promptly taken to hospital following his exit from the arena.

Yorkshire's own Cameron, aged 33 and not the expected victor, was evidently irritated that he didn't receive the win, demonstrating his displeasure within the Riyadh ring.

In a post-bout interview with DAZN, Cameron aired his grievances: "He [Whittaker] didn't want no more. He were very tired. He give me his last 30 seconds. He had nothing left. Kid was knackered from round two.

"But look, I definitely beat him. I don't get a fair share. I got a split decision lost in the last fight. I just had a draw this one. What more do I have to do? I've never had a promotional deal in my life, and I tried to do best today to get that win, and I thought I fully deserved it.

"Yeah [Whittaker wanted a way out], you could see it on camera. I don't want to be critical to him, because no one gave me a chance. No one. It wasn't the Liam Cameron show, I didn't have no cameras on me, following me, just my small team."

The bout concluded with Chris Eubank Jr claiming victory over Kamil Szeremeta through a seventh-round stoppage. In a surprising twist, Conor Benn hastened into the ring even before the official result was declared.

Security had to step in to deescalate tensions as both fighters engaged in a heated verbal exchange, marring the event with unsavoury scenes in Saudi Arabia. The guards intervened once more when Benn and Eubank faced off yet again after Eubank's win was confirmed that evening.
