Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are set for a thrilling face-off as both contenders vie to become the undisputed light-heavyweight champion of the world.

The duo was initially slated to compete in June, but Beterbiev had to withdraw due to a knee injury sustained during training. Both pugilists have impressive undefeated records, with a total of 32 knockouts in 43 matches.

Currently, Beterbiev is the only reigning world champion with a 100 per cent knockout ratio.

Beterbiev first claimed the world champion title in 2017 after defeating Enrico Kolling. The 39-year-old enters the high-profile bout following a seventh-round TKO win over Callum Smith in January.

On the other hand, Bivol demonstrated his prowess in 2022 by beating Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision. The Russian enters the showdown after knocking out Malik Zinad in his last match in June.

Quotes corner.

Artur Beterbiev has stated with fierce determination, "Always when I'm going to the ring I'm trying to think that this is the most dangerous opponent in my career, and he is really like this. He's really dangerous and it makes me more excited to be honest. Your level, your enemies, the level of your challenges, shows your level also. We will see. October 12, it will be my show."

In a candid admission during his conversation with Sky Sports, Dmitry Bivol disclosed: "We knew each other but we didn't talk. We did some sparring but it wasn't real sparring. I had targets [then]. I have only in my mind my next opponent. It doesn't mean I don't care about the rest of them. But now I have one opponent and that's it. At that time too, I had many guys there. I consider him an opponent with the belts. It doesn't matter that he's Beterbiev, or somebody else. It's just the guy. Four belts for me is another [thing]. And of course I will do everything and I hope I will win. Of course I will enjoy winning those four belts, not just [beating] him. Him as a fighter, with an 100 per cent KO [ratio], a good fighter. But not anything personal."
