Trailer: Rick and Morty return for Season 3
Rick and Morty fans had to wait two years between season two and three and unsurprisingly many are anxious to know if they’ll be waiting the same amount of time for series four.
The future of the show has been up in the air recently.
But now, the creator has revealed that he is “optimistic” that he can begin work on the new series soon.
Dan explained: “I’m optimistic right now, at the moment.
“Negotiations are tough.
“It’s an unprecedented situation, and everybody’s being real cool and wants to make an agreement happen so that we get started.”
Remaining coy on what he could reveal about season four, he concluded to Den of Geek: “That’s about all I can say.”
Dan has kept relatively tight-lipped on why fans have been left waiting for news of another season.
But co-creator Justin Roiland hinted that the show had not received the green light from Adult Swim’s parent company Turner.
Last month he told his 630,000 Twitter followers: “For everyone telling me to get back to work on Rick and Morty, turn your attention to Turner.

“I’m waiting around just like you. Making some cool video games in the meantime though!”
But for fans who have been missing Rick and Morty since season three’s final episode in October last year, a new instalment was released earlier this month.
The tribute episode was titled Bushworld Adventures and featured the duo as Australians.
The instalment sees Rick force his grandson Morty into accompanying him on an eight-hour road trip to Bendigo.
