Kate added to Radio Times: “Connor is so up for this challenge. He's so excited about it, and he's playing it brilliantly.”
The producer also revealed that Pat’s demise would come after he and his wife Eileen Phelan (Sue Cleaver) go on a mini-break.
During the getaway, Eileen will shove Pat over a cliff face, supposedly finishing him once and for all.
The beginning of the inevitable downfall may have been revealed in last night’s episode, as a property developer revealed some shocking news.

In an event that may cause a chain reaction of reveals, a property developer at the mill site told Pat that they would need to drain the lake in order to progress with the ongoing building work.
Fans will remember the lake is now the resting place of Pat’s victims Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth), and Vinny Ashford (Ian Kelsey).
Despite his best efforts to stop or postpone the lake draining, the property developer was resolute in his decision.
With the lake being drained in a matter of weeks, Pat’s time will be running out fairly soon.

Kate also revealed a little about Pat’s downfall, explaining Eileen’s motives.
She explained: “It’s very much to do with Eileen. It's to do with her realising who she's married.”
“It's to do with Nicola and that child,” Kate added, speaking about Nicola Rubinstein's (Nicola Thorpe) pregnancy, Eileen and Pat’s future grandchild.
Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV.
