Mahoney hated him
Grammer told TV Guide that Eddie - the Jack Russell dog - was recast during the show's run.
Dog-actor Moose played the white and tan animal from 1993 to 2000 before his son Enzo took over until the show ended in 2004.
He explained Moose had become so grey, the make-up department had to paint the dog’s faded markings onto his fur.
Grammer added that Moose used to bite Mahoney: “Mahoney hated him.”

Actor Gary Sinise also remembered the star, writing: “Our old friend and Steppenwolf theatre colleague John Mahoney passed away yesterday.
I was so honored to work with the legendary John Mahoney on “The Broken Heart’s Club.” I was so nervous because “Say Anything” is one of my favorite films ever. He could not have been a kinder man. #RIPJohnMahoney pic.twitter.com/DFp8Dpj6uz

Our old friend and Steppenwolf theatre colleague John Mahoney passed away yesterday. So many wonderful plays together over the years. A wonderful actor I’ll never forget his 1985 performance in Orphans (Chicago and New York).
