The broadcaster slammed hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid online after he was replaced by a “dating guru”, with the the chat show host later apologising.
However, this morning the 44-year-old was campaigning to have a “plastic-free aisle” in supermarkets after David Attenborough made a plea on Blue Planet II.
Calling for urgent action, Ben commented: “We’re talking about single use plastics - stuff that’s used for a couple of minutes.
“6.4 million tonnes of plastic has been produced on this planet since the 1950s and we’ve recycled about nine per cent of that.”

Ben, who also congratulated Prince Harry on his recent engagement, continued: “We welcome all those changes [taxation on bottles] but we need to stop this at source.
“We have no need for them but we need to invest in alternatives. Why are we not leading [the way]? We are calling for a plastic-free aisle. We should be advancing our knowledge on the packaging we use.
It comes after Ben hit out at the programme on Twitter, apologising to his 344,000 followers saying simply: “I tried.”
