The ruthless leader (played by Xander Berkeley) was last seen leaving Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) to the mercy of Walkers as he sped off in the Father's car.
Having left the priest to die, Gregory heads back to his home at The Hilltop to find himself locked out.
He finds that the roles have switched and he has to answer to the compound's new leader, Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohen).
The pregnant widower demands to know what happened to Gabriel, but Gregory can do nothing but lie, telling her: "The car was just there."
Maggie is also not pleased about seeing him stood next to her nemesis Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) when the Alexandrians ambushed the Sanctuary.

This comes as the producers have hinted that Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) could be the next to die.
In the season premiere, a Savior told dad Rick (Andrew Lincoln): "Your boy's gonna die!"
What's more, during a dream sequence where viewers were given a tantalising glimpse at the hero's future, his eyes were red and some presumed it was from tears over the loss of a child.
Executive producer David Alpert has added fuel to the fire when he told the Huffington Post that no one is safe in the dystopian world.
Gregory is faced with an angry Maggie - but will she forgive him?
He teased: "I think we've shown time and time again that everybody's on the table, and that we're the type of show [where] we don't have a problem deviating from what the comic does.
"We still get people petitioning us to bring Beth back. There are so many people that love Emily [Kinney] that want her back.
"That being said, everybody's on the table, and where the story demands to go, we're going to follow," he confessed.
The Walking Dead continues on AMC on Sunday and will follow a day later on FOX UK. Seasons one to seven are currently available to stream on NOW TV.
