The 75-year-old reportedly rejected all offers to compete on the show because she couldn’t face the 23-hour flight to Australia without a cigarette.
However, Julie - who starred as pub landlady Bet Lynch in the ITV soap - did come up with another plan to make the long-haul journey.
The Bury-born actress asked to travel to the other side of the world by boat, but the show’s producers refused.
A boat trip Down Under would have taken 40 days with tickets costing up to £4,000 each way.

If Julie made the journey to join a batch of celebrity for the Ant and Dec fronted series, she would have had to pack over 4,000 cigarettes.
The revelation was exposed by former I’m A Celebrity producer Lisa Mary London in her new book called Reality Rehab, according to The Daily Star.
She said: "Soap legend Julie Goodyear frustrated me when she rang in person to say she'd love to do the show if we could get her to Australia by boat.
"A 23-hour flight without frequent cigarette breaks was out of the question for the chain-smoking soap diva."

Julie has already had a go at reality TV after entering the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2012.
Her fellow housemates were in disbelief as she smoked 100 cigarettes a day during the Channel 5 show and was nicknamed ’The Chimney Pot’.
It comes after it was reported Boris Becker is set to join the ITV show in a bid to escape financial ruin.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
