Walking Dead season 8 trailer reveals possible end for Rick
Fan-favourites Carol Peletier (played by Melissa McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) have gradually grown closer over the course of the AMC show's seven seasons, but fans are still waiting for them to go the extra mile and become a fully-fledged couple.
In new photos released by Entertainment Weekly, it is heavily suggested that a relationship for the pair could finally be on the horizon in season eight.
One image from the photoshoot, celebrating the zombie series' 100th episode next season, shows Daryl, Carol, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Michonne (Danai Gurrira) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) uncharacteristically dressed up in evening wear in the middle of a lush green forest.
While Maggie sits alone in front of a dining table filled with a variety of colourful fruit, and Rick and Michonne are locked together in what appears to be a dance, Daryl and Carol's actions tell a different story.

Daryl sits lounging against a wooden throne with his left leg propped up against the table while Carol tenderly spoon-feeds him something from the lavish spread.
As they stare into each other's eyes, Carol seems to be smiling lovingly, while Daryl is angled toward her - a bouquet of wildflowers draped against him.
Could this intimate sight be a pointedly-placed hint at things to come between the complicated pair?
Or is their positioning merely a nod to the fans who are dedicated to seeing the characters become a couple?

The other images show the cast celebrating as they gear up for the show's premiere next month, and include Norman and Andrew having fun with some red velvet cake as well as the females in the show popping champagne.
Meanwhile, another recent drop of photos may have revealed that Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) will face death at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) or his team of Saviors next season.
One particular shot depicts the religious character cowering behind a burned out car, hiding from either blood-thirsty zombies or a blood-thirsty baseball bat.
With the priest out on his own and the Saviors out for revenge, Gabriel’s days could be numbered.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 22 and will follow a day later on FOX UK.
