David Battie is the only antiques expert on the series to have appeared in the BBC show's first-ever episode in the 1970s, and is still going strong today.
But despite all of his impressive experience judging the worth of a myriad of objects that have come through the programme's history, he admitted that his favourite presenter and expert to work with is the show's latest - journalist Fiona Bruce.
Speaking to the Radio Times, David confessed: “I think Fiona is wonderful."
The television personality, 74, went on to say that his feelings had grown to the point that he even gave her a love poem.

She was probably horrified
“Early in her tenure I wrote her a love poem (doggerel!) in the style of the poets I liked, from Edward Lear to Dylan Thomas.
"She was probably horrified," he laughed.
David also shared that he hopes producers of the hugely popular show won't decide to change the show's format in the future, whether he is a part of it or not, despite the diminishing quantity of exceptional finds.
"There are definitely fewer really stonkingly good objects on the Roadshow, which is inevitable, given we’ve been going for 40 years, sucking them in like a vacuum cleaner,” he said.
