Queen Victoria is surprised with a puppy
After the tragic double loss of fan favourite Lord Melbourne (played by Rufus Sewell) and her beloved pet dog Dash last week, the Queen (Jenna Coleman) is sure to be in need of some cheering up in the upcoming instalment of the hit ITV period drama.
A sneak preview of Sunday night's instalment showed the young monarch being presented with an adorable gift by her Mistress of the Robes, the Duchess of Buccleuch (Dame Diana Rigg).
"Good morning, your majesty," the Duchess announced, swanning into the decadent boudoir, accompanied by her niece Wilhelmina (Bebe Cave) and two servants caring a basket covered with a blanket.
Instructing Wilhelmina to unveil the gift, the Duchess explained: "The Sultan of Muscat wanted to present you with a tiger cub, but I persuaded him that a puppy would be more appropriate."

The Queen was delighted with her new puppy
Gasping with delight, Victoria reached down, lifting an adorable pet pooch into the air and cradling him in her arms.
"So much more appropriate," she gushed, giggling with joy as she took her new furry friend over to the bed.
Despite the Duchess' protests that the bed was no "no place for an animal", Victoria insisted that she would treat the new pup the same as she had Dash.
The Duchess of Buccleuch warned her not to let the pup on the bed
However Queen Victoria didn't seem to mind when the puppy had an accident on the royal sheets
"But Dash, ma'am, was house trained," the Duchess replied. "And this creature is not."
Sure enough, the Queen's little companion promptly went to the toilet on the royal bedspread, proving her point.
Victoria, however, seemed unbothered, simply laughing and continuing to gaze adoringly at the dog as she cuddled up on the bed with her.
Victoria continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
