During today’s instalment of the Channel 4 programme, Simon had shut down a youngster for her unusually shaped carrot, saying it had stunted growth.
But the presenter sheepishly turned to the camera and said: “First an apology,” which surprised his co-host Tim Lovejoy and The Saturdays singer Mollie King, who was a guest on the show.
“We’ve got to apologise to Little Bear who we showed at the start of the show with her unusually shaped carrot,” he began.
Ignoring the others when they started booing him, Simon continued: “It is actually a special variety that’s meant to grow that way, it isn’t stunted because it’s grown.”

Tim and Mollie continued to tease the chef as 49-year-old Tim commented: "He’s like the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
Bursting into laughter, Mollie joined in on vilifying the host as Simon tried to keep his cool.
Cupping his mouth with his hands, Tim then shouted to the camera: “Children run, run children run, Simon’s coming!”
“Apologies little Bear,” Simon added gravely, before the group moved on.

Earlier on in the episode, Simon, 54, and Mollie addressed their upcoming Strictly Come Dancing appearance, joking that they’ve already decided who they’d like to be partnered with.
Simon admitted: "It's the elephant in the room, but quietly we've had a conversation. You never say out loud though because you don't want the dancers to hear.”
Mollie, 30, also added that she will "relax" when she discovers the identity of her partner next week, and revealed that she thinks Simon will be the "dark horse" of this year's competition.
Sunday Brunch continues Sunday at 9.30am on Channel 4.
