X Factor 2017 SHOCK: You won't believe the ratings compared to last year…
Only 6.2 million tuned in to the talent show last night, making it the least-watched series opener in 13 years.
The amount isn't far off The Great British Bake Off's 6.5 million average as it launched on Channel 4 earlier this week.
Although it is still a large number, Simon Cowell's programme has dropped 600,000 viewers in the past year.

What's important for us is to keep the young audience interested in the show
It is the second-lowest ratings for The X Factor launch show, with 2004's season one gaining 5.25 million.
At the show's peak, around seven million people tuned in to see the search for the next pop superstar.
Simon, 57, has spoken out about his attempts to change ratings by making little tweaks, including the reduction of live shows.
He did add that he struggled to compete with Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings, admitting: "I've learn to keep my mouth shut about that.
"We can't compete with their overall audience because they're much older."
"What's important for us is to keep the young audience interested in the show," the music mogul admitted.
X Factor continues tonight on ITV at 8pm.
