Antiques Roadshow expert stunned as collector RUBBISHES valuation: ‘Whatever!’
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW expert Eric Knowles was left shocked after a visitor rubbished his valuation.
Antiques Roadshow collector's lacklustre reaction to valuation
The valuation master was viewing a pair of statues at Tredegar House when his figure seemed to underwhelm a collector.
Stamped with Royal Dux Bohemia, the statues were valued at £1,500.
Eric told the collector and the gathered audience: “So, in today’s market if I wanted to go out and buy these today, because they’re big and because they’re still together, this is a marriage obviously made in heaven.
“The chances are, I’d probably be asked to pay about £1,500.”

Whatever? What?
The collector looked straight back at Eric and said: “Yeah? Whatever… yeah.”
Stunned, Eric gasped and checked that he had heard correctly, repeating: “Whatever? What?”
The collector explained: “Yeah. Sounds fine. I don’t really want to sell them I suppose.
“They’ll be passed on to my girls if they want them.

“They probably don’t, you don’t know. Your children never seem to want things really, do they?”
It comes after yesterday’s episode saw a collector left visibly shaken by a shockingly high valuation.
Antiques Roadshow continues tomorrow on BBC Two at 5.15pm.
