Speaking in a recent interview the 56-year-old host said: “We’ve got a similar sense of humour, and that can catch us out because either one of us is not always strong enough to stop it.”
He went on to explain: “But I do enjoy trying to set Holly off. I like being nicely naughty.”
Holly, 36, was also speaking to LoveTV and explained: “I know when he’s trying to do it because I’ll feel his elbow nudging me to tip me over the edge, and I often just crumble.”
The This Morning hosting duo are known for bursting into laughter live on the breakfast show, which they have presented together since 2009.
Most recently, Holly appeared to collapse onto the floor in a fit of stitches on the ITV programme after something set her off.
In a previous interview with OK! Online, she said that she was surprised that their constant giggling fits had not landed them in hot water, saying: “I don’t know how we get away with it really.

Earlier this week, Holly struggled to contain her laughter after she made a joke about “damp sheets” during a segment about how to keep cool during the heatwave.
Steve Wilson was demonstrating how to help lower the temperature in a bed when she said: “It's the only time a damp sheet is acceptable.”

They also struggle with the giggles when working with Italian chef Gino D’Acampo, who often drops in innuendo into his cooking segments, causing Holly to end up in hysterics.
The pair famously turned up to work worse for wear the day after winning a National Television Award in 2016, hosting the first half of the show in their clothes from the night before.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
