As she settled into an interview with Lorraine Kelly about the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, the chat show's theme tune began to play, taking the pair by surprise.
A panicked Lorraine exclaimed: "Oh gosh, we've got to say goodbye, but we'll keep talking!"
The 57-year-old told viewers she would see them tomorrow whilst Tess laughed about the incident.
One viewer took to Twitter, posting with a laughing emoji: "@ITV Lorraine wow that was an abrupt end to the show poor @TessDaly cut off #Lorraine." (sic)

Previous to the ordeal, Tess discussed the appointment of new Strictly Come Dancing head judge, Shirley Ballas.
The 48-year-old strictly host revealed that she "can't wait to see another lady" on the panel as Shirley joins Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood for the latest series.
Tess joked: "I think she's going to keep the two boys under control, especially that naughty one at the end… Bruno, naming no names."
Tess also said she can't wait to see another woman on the Strictly panel
The mother-of-two also revealed that she would love to have a go at competing on the BBC talent show, if she could, saying: "I couldn't really because I couldn't be in two places at once.
"I do watch the celebrities and watch them blossom and think, 'Oh, I'd love to be able to do that'… Come on Anton, give me a twirl!" Tess teased.
