At the beginning of the last instalment of the three-part series, police in Darlington were notified by a man that his father, Archie, was missing.
Archie's son, Peter, told officers that his mother, Pat, had died just three months before, which had left his father feeling bereft.
After deploying a helicopter and officers on patrol across the city, police were no closer to finding the retired Para over 24 hours after he had been reported missing.
By day two, the search team admitted they were now looking for a body.

However, thanks to some calls from the general public, the hunt turned to a field by a bypass, where people had seen an elderly man walking two days previously.
Miraculously, despite being missing for two nights out in the cold, Archie was found alive by police.
It later transpired he had fallen while out on one of his daily walks.
