The show saw brainy children battle out their spelling knowledge in intense rounds until the cream of the crop was eventually crowned victorious.
However, as only 160,000 viewers tuned in to see 11-year-old Alex from Essex win the competition, The Sun reported that poor viewing figures led to the show being cancelled.
A source told the newspaper: "It just didn't work out, sadly. The ratings weren't amazing and while everyone involved thought the show was decent enough, they felt it was best to leave it as it is.
