The Big Bang Theory spin-off: CBS CONFIRM 'Young Sheldon' prequel starring Jim Parsons
IT WAS reported earlier this month that there would be a The Big Bang Theory spin-off show and it's now been confirmed that CBS have given 'Young Sheldon' the green light.
Big Bang Theory's Sheldon wants his favourite seat
According to Deadline, CBS has closed a deal for a straight-to-series order for the spin-off show; which will follow Sheldon Cooper's nine-year-old self through high school.
Fans will no doubt be thrilled to hear that the series will be narrated by Jim Parsons - the actor who plays grown-up Sheldon - and his younger self will be played by Iain Armitage; who is currently starring in Sky Atlantic drama Big Little Lies alongside Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.
Lance Barber will play Sheldon's father and Zoe Perry is set to play his mother, while Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan have been brought on board to play Sheldon's siblings.

Multi-tasker Jim will executive produce the comedy alongside creators Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Todd Spiewak. Jon Favreau will direct and executive produce the series premiere.
The comedy has already been likened to Malcolm in the Middle, but with the future physicist in the lead role.
The latest Big Bang Theory news comes as the show - which is currently in its 10th season and is thought to have grossed over $1 billion for Warner Bros - continues to be rumoured for a two-season renewal by CBS.

It was recently reported that the series' leading names had supposedly taken a pay cut so that their co-stars could get a raise.
Jim, Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) reportedly agreed to the plan, on the condition that their lost wages go to Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch.
According to Variety, the aforementioned heavyweight stars are reportedly paid $1 million per episode, while Mayim and Melissa pocket $200,000 for each instalment but will see their pay packets boost to $450,000 after each actor slashed their own wage by $100,000.
