THE host of Australian morning show Sunrise, Sam Armytage, has issued an apology for driving without a seatbelt.

The presenter was sharing a car with Ed Sheeran last week for an interview when viewers noticed that she failed to wear a seatbelt.
"You'll remember I went to pick up the signing superstar from his hotel room live on air. During that segment, I neglected to wear a seatbelt", Armytage told viewers.
She continued: "Many of you were quick to point out my mistake on Facebook and via email and phone.

I was caught up in the moment but that's no excuse
"I'm sorry. It was unintentional, I was caught up in the moment but that's no excuse," Armytage added.
The host also announced the local police force had issued fines to "all involved".
"The infringement notices will be paid," she assured.
Armytage then took the opportunity to highlight the dangers of driving without a seatbelt, adding: "And a reminder: do as I say not as I did.

She warned people to not make the same mistake in the heartfelt apology
"Always wear your seatbelt, no matter what the vehicle," she continued.
Ed Sheeran appeared on the show while he was being driven to a performance in Sydney's Martin Place.
The Grammy award winner revealed in the segment that he does not drink coffee in the morning as he joked: "You have to nip back and forth to the toilet."
