The 67-year-old actress looked on in astonishment as she watched the mesmerising acrobatic opening performance of the annual awards ceremony.
The Hollywood star struggled to watch one particular moment when one female gymnast was catapulted into the air to stand on on top of a three man pile-up.
Meryl had to take off her glasses after the dangerous stunt and clutched her forehead in disbelief.

When the female gymnast leapt off from the towering height, The Devil Wears Prada actress appeared stunned and looked close to tears at the jaw-dropping moment as she applauded the act.
Although the A-Lister missed out on an award for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins, she certainly won over viewers at home with her “priceless” reactions that was deemed as the “highlight” of the night.

Elsewhere at the event, host Stephen Fry poked fun at President Donald Trump for calling Meryl “overrated” after she attacked him in her Golden Globes speech.
Entering the stage at the start of the evening, he said: “I look down on row after row of the most overrated people on the planet in their beautiful borrowed evening wear.”
Hugh Grant also hit out at the US president in support of his fellow film star Meryl.
