PETER CAPALDI has announced he is stepping down from Doctor Who after playing the beloved Time Lord since 2013.

The 58-year-old told DJ Jo Whiley during her BBC Radio 2 show, that he would be departing his role at the end of the year.
Peter made the unexpected announcement while discussing what was in store for fans in the upcoming 10th season.
Presenter Jo asked the Scottish actor if there would be any affairs of the heart in the new series.
He replied: "I suppose the big thing for me is that it will be my last."

Clearly taken aback, Jo said: "So you will bow out after this series?"
To which Peter confirmed: "I will yes. It will be the end for me."
Peter explained that while he had enjoyed working on Doctor Who, he felt after three years it was time to move on to "different challenges".
However, his departure will not take place until after this year's Christmas special.

The actor has played the famous Timelord for over three years
"I think Christmas 2017, I've just been told," he said when asked about his exit date.
"But I'm still Doctor Who. I've got a lot to do - we're doing epic stuff. I'm not done yet."
This series also marks the end of head writer Steven Moffat's involvement in the sci-fi drama, who will be replaced by Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall.
Doctor Who will return to BBC One in April.
