KATIE REDFORD has joined the cast of The Archers, two years after being sacked from Coronation Street after she was revealed to be older than she was first claimed.

The then 25-year-old auditioned for Coronation Street as a 19-year-old in order to bag the part of 14-year-old Bethany Platt.
Katie was quickly discovered to be much older than her character and was replaced by actress Lucy Fallon.
Katie, now 27, has been cast as Lily Pargetter on the BBC Radio 4 show, the daughter of Elizabeth and twin sister to Freddie
The actress confirmed the happy news this week, tweeting: "Privileged to have joined the cast of @BBCTheArchers! Dum de dum de dum dum."

She also told The Mirror: "I believe Lily to be an extremely bright, confident, social butterfly with quite a charming wit to her.
"Despite her youth, she’s been through an awful lot and I think she’s developed a much thicker skin due to tragic past events.
"I also think she’s fiercely loyal. Her Mum and twin, Freddie, mean the world to her."

Katie has previously been seen in the reboot of Keeping Up Appearances, which aired as part of the BBC Classic Sitcom season last year.
The Archers continues tonight at 7pm on BBC Radio 4.
Coronation Street continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm on ITV.
