The popular detective series returns to the BBC to the delight of Sherlock and Benedict Cumberbatch fans around the country.
In the first episode, Sherlock suspects that there is a sinister reason behind the way images of Margaret Thatcher are being destroyed.
Mrs Brown’s Boy’s New Year Special – BBC One, 10pm
Agnes Brown steps in when her grandson Bono is bullied by a boy at school. After making matters worse, a mediation session is called.
EastEnders – BBC One, 7pm
Ronnie and Jack’s wedding day finally arrives but it could all end in ruin if Roxy continues to cause trouble.

Titanic: The New Evidence – Channel 4, 8pm
Titanic expert Senan Molony looks at recently unearthed photograph of the doomed ship to find out why it sunk.
