Helen Mirren delivers a VERY alternative Christmas message: '2016 has been a pile of S**T'
SHE previously won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II so it came as no surprise that Dame Helen Mirren was chosen to deliver a Christmas message on The Graham Norton Show.

Appearing on the show this evening, the 71-year-old found her inner Royal as she perched on the sofa alongside guests Will Smith and Naomie Harris.
But, Dame Helen's version didn't have many similarities to the one played out on TV by the Queen on Christmas Day.
Wearing a leopard print long-sleeved top, the actress put on a very straight face as she began her speech.

I think we can all agree that 2016 has been a big pile of s**t
She told viewers: "At this time of celebration and togetherness we have a chance to reflect on the year gone by and I think we can all agree that 2016 has been a big pile of s**t."
The audience erupted in laughter as Dame Helen gave the camera a stern look and went on to continue her message: "So my advice to you is drink responsibility and be merry have a very happy Christmas."
Elsewhere on the chat show, she admitted that she was "insulted" when she was first asked to portray death in the new movie Collateral Beauty.
She plays Brigitte in the flick but revealed she "wasn't quite sure" when she first read the script.

Discussing her role, Dame Helen joked: “I was so insulted! I read the script but wasn’t quite sure who they were going to ask me to play and then when I was cast as ‘Death’ I thought, ‘God damn it!’ But, it’s a comedy role the way I play it."
The award-winning actress also spoke of her upcoming role in the new Fast and Furious film and said: "It's fantastic," but when questioned whether she gets to drive the fast cars in the movie, she kept quiet: "I'm not allowed to say. I can’t say a word”.
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
