And now her family have revealed her final words, which they said have given them comfort as they grieve.
The actress told her family she was proud of herself for becoming a household name and her time on the ITV soap.
Speaking of her death, her brother Ken Hodgkinson said: "Jean's death came on suddenly. It was very hard to cope with it all.
"I still can't get my head around it. The comforting thing is she was happy with what she had done."

He went on to reveal her final words: "She said,'I've achieved what I wanted to do… It's not bad for a poor girl from Liverpool, is it?'"
Ken added the soap star, who appeared on Coronation Street from 1964 until 1987, never planned on becoming famous.
"She wasn't aiming to be famous," he said. "She just wanted to work at it, to act and have the opportunity to do it."

The icon tragically passed away on October 14 after a short spell in hospital and just says after her 90th birthday.
At the time, her niece Sonia Heard said that the news of her death came as "such a shock" to the family, who had been planning her birthday celebration.
An ITV tribute, Hilda Ogden's Last Ta-Ra will air tonight at 8pm.
