The 35-year-old former model, who has presented This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield since 2009, looked of the verge on walking out her job.
She was heard telling viewers via a live video link from St Thomas’ Hospital in London: “You’ve lost me. I’m not coming back!”
Co-host Phillip, 54, looked slightly concerned but jokingly told her as he manned things from the studio: “We are never getting her back.”
Later on Holly walked through the maternity ward and met new mothers, who had given birth just hours earlier.
“I’m having such a good time, I might change job,” she said as she interviewed a doctor about the day-to-day life on the ward.
Meanwhile, Phil was trying to hold the fort from the studio, where he cut a lonely figure.

At one point he even changed a Christmas decoration which said “Noel” to spell “Lone”, reflecting how he was feeling
“I’m Billy No Mates right now,” he sadly told viewers as titters of laughter were heard from the recesses of the studio.
Mother-of-three Holly spoke about the maternity special excitedly yesterday, saying: "We may have a baby born on the show tomorrow!"

She added: "I'm going down to a hospital and hang around and see what happens really."
Earlier this year it was announced that Holly would be heading to a hospital for the maternity segment in which she might help deliver a newborn.
“We know one is born every minute but we’re hoping one will be born on the show and I’ll be on hand to witness it,” Holly said.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
