In the fourth instalment of the FOX series, Daryl Dixon returned to Alexandria after being held prisoner by Negan and the Saviors.
When Negan arrived at the home of Rick Grimes and his group, Daryl was dragged along with him but was banned from speaking to his friends.
He was told that he could not communicate with the Alexandrians or there would be consequences.
But it wasn't long before theories began to circulate suggesting that Daryl and Rick actually used morse code to communicate during his visit.

Daryl was forbidden from talking to the Alexandrians in episode four of The Walking Dead
Fans were convinced that the pair were secretly talking to each other by blinking morse code about the location of the Saviors camp.
And now The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple has commented on the theory, saying that it would be very unlikely that the two could communicate by blinking.
Speaking to Cinema Blend, he explained: "I would like to live in a world where Daryl Dixon residuously learns morse code and knows that Rick has an intimate knowledge of morse code, as well, and that they have practised this with blinks.
"I would love that. I will also say that it was an incredibly sunny day."

Scott said it is possible Andrew and Norman were communicating with each other
But while their characters may not have been using morse code to communicate, Scott said he would be surprised if the actors themselves were talking to each other.
"Andy [Lincoln] and Norman [Reedus] are really close," he told Yahoo. "I think the theory actually could be correct, but not within the story.
"Meaning, I don't put it past those two gentlemen, who are now so unbelievably close, that maybe Andy and Norman were communicating with each other, like they were saying, 'Oh, that was a good take. I really like what you did there. You're really bringing it.'"
The Walking Dead continues tonight on FOX at 9pm.
