The baker said it was the comparisons people made between herself and Jay from E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners that encouraged her to change.
Appearing alongside winner Candice Brown and Andrew Smyth in London on Thursday, the 61-year-old showed off her fresh, curly brunette barnet after ditching her lighter look.
Jane commented: "I got a bit fed up of being blonde and, to be honest, fed up of being compared to Jay from The Inbetweeners."
However, the married TV star, whose handsome children caused a stir during Wednesday's final, appeared to take the criticism well.
