Regretting that tweet? GMB host vowed to bare her bum if Honey G made X Factor live shows
GOOD MORNING BRITAIN newsreader Philippa Tomson took to Twitter to jokily claim she would bare her bum if Honey G progressed to The X Factor live shows - only to watch as the prospect became a reality.
Honey G gets through to the next round
Honey, who is mentored by Sharon Osbourne in this year’s contest, successfully booked a place in the final 12 despite huge backlash from viewers online.
Philippa had tweeted: “If Honey G goes through to live shows I will bare my backside in my own front window... #TheXFactor”.
Moments later, she was forced to follow up: “God in heaven...I will post after the watershed... #TheXFactor.”
Thousands of viewers joined Philippa in expressing their shock at the result, with Miranda Hart posting: “V clever television to get us all talking about Honey G. BUT if she isn't a comic creation I'm not sure it's right. Am I missing something?”

Honey G has booked herself a place in the Top 12
Can she now go all the way?

Stephanie Pratt wrote: “Wait I'm actually tone deaf but does honey g have a good voice or is she just entertainment at this point?”
In a post that had hundreds more likes than retweets, Robbie Savage joked: “Don't know what is the worse, Gareth Southgate England squad or honey g going through RT for Southgate squad or Like for honey g.”
Writing directly to Sharon, Kerry Katona raged: “@MrsSOsbourne @robbiewilliams @TheXFactor Sharon.omg wth? Sam is amazing! Can't believe you kept honey bloody G over her! Still love ya thou x”
Honey G is the stage name of businesswoman Anna Georgette Gilford, whose LinkedIn profile has been heavily circulated online since her first audition aired.
Bosses may have been hoping that the controversy around her progress would boost ratings, but it hasn’t been working so far: despite this year’s audition episodes showing an increase in viewership on the 2015 season, on Saturday they slumped to just 6.9 million - a huge 2.3 million behind Strictly Come Dancing.
Philippa regularly appears on GMB with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid
Things got worse still on Sunday as another half a million abandoned ship, leaving 6.4 million watching live.
Honey G faces category-mates Relley C and Saara Alto - as well as co-stars Matt Terry, Freddy Parker, Ryan Lawrie, Emily Middlemas, Samantha Lavery, Gifty Louise, Bratavio, Brooks Way and 5 After Midnight - when the live shows begin this weekend.
The X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
