Great British Bake Off 2016: Rav Bansal leaves the tent after Botanical Week
RAV BANSAL has been eliminated from the Great British Bake Off after a week that saw all male contestants struggle.
Botanical week set to be toughest yet on Bake Off
The 28-year-old from Kent was knocked out after the first ever Botanical Week, whilst Tom Gifford was named Star Baker for the second time.
“My worst moment was definitely botanical week," Rav admitted. "Piping your own flowers was difficult and I have always been open that my bakes are not pretty.
"I would rather they taste good than look good, so I think that was my ultimate downfall."
He added: "I am always going to be experimenting in the kitchen and I am constantly looking for unusual ingredients.

He had been popular with fans but his bakes didn't cut it
Tom was star baker once again
I would rather they taste good than look good, so I think that was my ultimate downfall
"Mary and Paul always commented on my flavours and it’s always wonderful to hear positive feedback, as for me it’s all about the flavour, even if my presentation was a bit ‘informal’ at times.”
Tom now matches Candice Brown in the Star Baker stakes, after she took the top honours last week for her own second time.
Candice attracted attention this week when she appeared to ditch her trademark lipstick.
"There's more tweets about Candice's lipstick, or lack of, then there are about the meringues #GBBO," one person quipped on Twitter.
Rav visibly struggled with his Showstopper
Another said: "Wonder what colour of lipstick Candice is wea-*world implodes* #GBBO."
This is the final series of the programme to air on BBC One before it moves to Channel 4 in a three year £75 million deal.
Bosses of both channels came head-to-head in a fiery on-stage clash at the RTS Conference yesterday.
Great British Bake Off airs Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
